Abstract
Concussion is a common problem presenting to the emergency department and primary care offices. The goal of acute care is to identify clinically significant intracranial lesions, treat acute concussion symptoms, and provide patients and families with useful discharge instructions. This chapter will focus on acute care issues including criteria requiring urgent evaluation, neuroimaging guidelines, acute symptom management, medications, admission criteria, outpatient, and discharge management.
