Abstract

M92 is a globular star cluster in Hercules and it is in the northern part. It is often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbour M13 but is half as bright and better placed from the northern hemisphere than M13, being circumpolar from northern Europe and most of Canada. It was discovered in 1777 by Johann Elert Bode and is about 14 arcminutes across and between 26,000 and 27,000 light years away.
