Abstract
A disc hemorrhage (DH) represents an isolated flame or splinter-shaped bleeding site with radial orientation perpendicular to the disc margin on the optic disc tissue (Fig. 17.1). Alternatively, the DH may be present in the peripapillary retina reaching the disc rim, usually within one disc diameter of the disc margin. Though often associated with glaucoma, the DH may be caused by other conditions such as vascular occlusive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or ischemic optic neuropathy.
