The first laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs were performed using the transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) method. As surgeons became more facile in dissection methods, the total extraperitoneal (TEP) repair evolved. Controversy surrounds the choice of method when bilateral hernias require repair. This chapter explores these choices.
