The abdominal wall graft is a composite tissue allograft that has been developed in the context of intestinal transplantation. Some intestinal transplant candidates have severely damaged abdominal walls and/or a loss of domain of the abdominal compartment making closure at the time of transplant extremely difficult. Although a variety of techniques exist to address this problem, some patients are impossible to close. For these patients, the addition of an abdominal wall graft can facilitate closure and restore the integrity of the abdominal compartment.
