Relationship-building must be a top priority for administrators of young children. It is the principal’s responsibility to get to know the children in order to build a lasting relationship of trust and support which, in turn, may raise test scores and diminish discipline problems. School leaders must understand the work of early childhood teachers, concerns of parents, and resources in the community in order to help young children develop intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially.
