Abstract
The ballistic missile, one of the legacies of the Second World War, has changed the world both for good and bad. While it enabled a nation to attack the population and facilities of another state with impunity, it also provided a means of launching satellites that have not only revolutionized science and technology but also changed the everyday lives of people on the planet.
