What’s it All About?

Abstract

The very high resolution radio telescopes now being used or planned will help us understand many of the secrets of the radio universe, but unless new windows into the universe are opened up (and there are a few left for radio astronomers—the submillimeter wavelength region, for example) we may expect the flood of dramatic new discoveries to dry to a trickle. Radio astronomy has matured and to a large extent it has entered an era of consolidation, of making more detailed observations of ever more detailed phenomena.
