Abstract
High-speed software development uses a number of techniques to move software quickly into production. Examples of these techniques include prototyping for fast requirement definition, release-oriented project management for scope control, and parallel development for rapid product completion and quality control. These techniques are spreading rapidly among software developers worldwide. Using the Kline model of innovation diffusion and the Greiner model of evolution and growth of organizations we analyze the enablers and barriers to diffusion of high-speed software development techniques in Russia. This analysis reveals a complex interaction of political, economic and technical elements that both enable and inhibit the development of knowledge necessary to support this case of innovation diffusion.
