Abstract
We explore the phenomena of communication and computer-mediated communication. Concepts from information theory, user interface design, and semiotics are surveyed. Aspects of the cognitive and social dynamics of communication are discussed. A novel communication theory is proposed, and a pilot study is made to conceptually validate some of the principal postulates of the theory. Related work is given, and future plans are outlined.
