Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of common problems faced by the family physician during labor and delivery. The anticipation, early recognition, and prevention of problems are emphasized as well as management strategies. Except when otherwise specified, level-one evidence as represented by a randomized controlled trial (RCT), systematic reviews, or metaanalyses of RCTs will be used to support the recommendations.
