Abstract

Before beginning any discussion of personality and intelligence, we need to dispel a common myth about intelligence itself, that is that it is a ‘thing’ in the way that the brain is a thing. It is not. Intelligence is simply a socially constructed concept; a term we use for particular kinds of behaviour.
