Abstract

The analysis presented in this monograph represents a first attempt to examine and compare the curricular aims of the countries participating in the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). Several pervasive conclusions were identified during this effort and they are summarized in this chapter. Also, since the curriculum data gathered are complex and the results presented here are only from a first set of investigations, we outline some directions for future curriculum analysis work.
