The Role of Gender in Chain Reactions

Findings given in Chapter 6 have confirmed the role of peers in the teenagers’ substance use. Teenagers selected other teenagers from this population and formed peer ties with them and, in doing so, formed peer groups of various sizes. Teenagers who did not form peer ties with other teenagers in the population remained as isolates. The combination of peer groups and isolates comprised a complete network.
