Abstract
In the opulent Apostolic Palace of the Vatican sit the Stanze di Raffaello, the Raphael Rooms. Adorning one of the lavishly decorated walls of this public part of the papal apartments is Raphael’s masterpiece, that perfect embodiment of the classical spirit of the High Renaissance, The School of Athens.1
