Abstract

Metal–organic frameworks are a new class of advanced porous materials, which have several important characteristics, such as highly periodical, diverse and designable structures, high porosity, unique and modifiable pore surface, as well as framework flexibility. In this chapter, we give a brief account focusing on the molecular design, synthetic strategies and interesting properties and applications of metal–organic frameworks with a number of selected examples.
