Abstract

We review some of the early history of molecular radio detections and show how the Sgr B2 region came to be recognized as an important molecular source. We show the usefulness of millimeter array maps in distinguishing the various chemical processes in the different regions of Sgr B2. We suggest that the differing chemical processes may be indicators of different evolutionary states in the Sgr B2 clouds, which may explain why we have found Sgr B2(N) to be the heavy molecule heimat.
