The specification language COLD-1 is used in the formal specification of the FSM package, a specialized CAD package, that is used for shadow mask design within Philips. The case study shows that formal techniques can be used in an industrial context; in particular the language COLD-1 is a good vehicle for writing the specifications. In addition it is shown that an object-oriented style can be used within this wide spectrum language, without changing it.
