Breaking into the market and procurement

  • Chapter
Building Projects in China

Part of the book series: Building Projects ((BUILDPROJ))

Abstract

I was invited to China in the year 2001 because I got in touch with a Chinese developer I had met on my first trip to China. The Chinese client showed us a variety of projects that were about to be developed, which led to the first project-related contact. After I had come back to Germany a lot of time was spent discussing the project and the general conditions attached to it, but we didn’t receive a planning commission, and development of the project ground to a halt on the data highway from Shanghai to Düsseldorf because of the geographical distance and the resulting communication difficulties.
