GUTOP — Graphical user interface to operate on PARIX

The Department of Computer Science at Rostock University runs a Parsytec PowerXplorer consisting of 8 nodes which are connected in a 2D-grid. The PARIX operating system provides the functionality to develop message passing programs including virtual topologies and virtual processors. In order to write efficient parallel programs one has to learn programming in PARIX. We help the beginners in parallel programming by providing a graphical user interface to develop, compile and run PARIX programs. The concept of variable virtual topologies allows the beginner to work on any provided virtual topology using only a small set of functions.
