Information Management and Information Systems Planning

  • Roland Traunmüller
Part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science book series (LNCS, volume 973)

Information Management and Information Systems Planning play key roles in the informatization of an enterprise. The following introduction to the field presents definitions, reflects aims and scopes, and discusses levels and aspects of Information Management. Subsequently Information Systems Planning as a pivotal activity connected with Information Management is considered in a similar manner. The planning activities are broken down into components and some examples are sketched. Subsequently attention is given to Information Resources Management. The final sections focus on three developments that have already set forth to modify goals and practice in Information Management and Information Systems Planning: Electronic Document Management and Interchange; Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Business Process Re-Engineering.
