Pion-nucleon sigma term

Abstract

A brief status report on the σ-term is given. The extrapolation of the isoscalar D-amplitude to the Cheng-Dashen point is analyzed in light of the recent low-energy πN data, and the Σ-term is evaluated. The strange quark content of the proton is discussed.
