debis Systemhaus CCS is supplying centralized computing power to the different branches of the Daimler-Benz Holding throughout Germany. In the Munich area these services are delivered to the aircraft and aerospace industry (DASA). A Cray C 90 is operated in Stuttgart. After installing a Cray Y-MP2E as the successor of the Siemens-Nixdorf VP 200 (Fujitsu), that had been in operation since 1985, the infrastructure was changed drastically. The UNIX workstations in the research departments of the customers and the IBM MVS systems in the central computer center had to be connected with the new supercomputer. The design and realization considerations concerning the supercomputer, workstation-clusters, mainframes and high-speed networking in industrial services will be presented and discussed in this paper. Further enhancements in the infrastructure e.g. massively parallel processing systems are now possible without major difficulties.
