The MOSIX linker

Chapter
Part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science book series (LNCS, volume 672)

Abstract

This chapter described the three layer of the MOSIX Linker: the kernel interface layer, the transport layer and the network layer. First, the kernel interface layer mechanisms were presented. Then the transport layer and the network layer, which are implementation-dependent, were discussed only where they impact on the higher level mechanisms. The main goal of the Linker is to provide efficient and reliable communication between the other parts of the kernel. The implementation of the Linker is a critical parameter in providing good system performance. The performance of some of the MOSIX Linker mechanisms is given in Chapter 10.
