Abstract
The paper argues that instructional knowledge can to a large extend be modelled generically and re-applied in a variety of different teaching applications. This generic model is based on three concepts: instructional tasks, instructional methods and instructional objects. It is shown by means of a prototype Generic Tutoring Environment (GTE) how these components can be the building blocks of an instructional knowledge base and how this instructional knowledge base can support instructional interaction with a student.
