Abstract
A systematic approach to exact solutions for the evolution of small density inhomogeneities of a two-component and in special cases for a multi-component cosmological medium is outlined. Expressing the solutions of the respective differential equations in terms of Meijer's G-function we have derived various exact and asymptotic formulae for the perturbation modes.
