Abstract
This chapter is devoted to the celebrated limit shape of Young diagrams, which is the milestone towards the asymptotic representation theory of the symmetric groups. To our goal we shall not take the quickest way but employ a new idea from quantum probability theory. Our approach is largely combinatorial. In other words, we make much of the moment method which has been developed in previous chapters from various aspects. It is our hope that this framework will also serve as an accessible introduction to asymptotic representation theory.
