Abstract

There is a very popular series of movies in which one of the main characters is a blundering French detective who entertains the audience to great comic effect as he speaks English contorted to a French grammatical form. While this may not necessarily be an appropriate analogy for the case of SDL and UML convergence, it highlights one of the principal hazards when merging languages of different lineage.
