Defect Dragging in Periodic Structures

Abstract

Waves or pulses propagating along periodic structures cause thermally controlled transport of diffusing defects. The dragging waves/pulses may modulate the amplitude of the substrate as well as the geometry of the boundaries where the defects are confined. The transport efficiency of such a mechanism attains its maximum for an optimal value of the temperature and the modulation speed.
