Abstract
Following an outline of the main features of fluid motion, the penetration of liquids into tubes and wedges is considered. There are two cases of particular interest: the primary intrusion of the liquid into a cylindrical flow channel, and the pressure gradient required for maintaining the flow in a long cylindrical channel.
