Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new technique for location management based on hashing and caching. This approach allows for the use of the location information cached at the local server to reduce the cost of call delivery. We also introduce replication as a mechanism to increase the reliability of Home Location Registers (HLRs). Additionally, we use hashing to achieve load balancing among HLRs. Preliminary results indicate that our proposed scheme is particularly suitable for large numbers of users and highly congested wireless networks.
