Dieser Beitrag befasst sich mit Strategien, die Krankheitslast der Depression zu verringern. Üblicherweise tun Autoren dies, indem sie die Ergebnisse von Studien zur Wirksamkeit oder Strategien zur Änderung der Arbeitsweise von Ärzten betrachten. Unser Beitrag jedoch möchte an Hand eines Modells die Auswirkungen einer optimalen Versorgung auf die Häurlgkeit und die Folgen depressiver Erkrankungen untersuchen. Um dem Leser die Informationsbasis verständlich zu machen, auf die wir in unserem Modell zurückgreifen, soil eingangs zunächst die Epidemiologic depressiver Erkrankungen dargelegt werden.
