Zusammenfassung
Interdisziplinarität entwickelte sich in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten zu einer unverzichtbaren Vorgehensweise in der Behandlung von Tumorpatienten. Dieser Prozeß ergibt sich aus der Tatsache, daß bei zahlreichen Tumorerkrankungen eine Chance auf Heilung nur dann besteht oder zumindest nachweislich verbessert wird, wenn multimodale Therapieprinzipien zur Anwendung kommen. Um optimale multimodale Therapie festlegen zu können, bedarf es organisatorischer Strukturen, die sicherstellen, daß jeder Patient möglichst frühzeitig von einem interdisziplinären „Tumorboard“ gesehen wird. Dies gilt in der Regel natürlich auch für die angemessene Auswahl palliativer Therapieoptionen.
