Nuclear Physics with Laser Compton γ-Rays

Abstract

Photo-induced nuclear reactions are highly effective in studying nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics. Photon beams created in laser Compton scattering have characteristics of monochromaticity, energy tunability, and high polarization. These photon beams are used in photo-nuclear experiments by nuclear resonance fluorescence (γ, γ′) and photo-disintegration (γ, n) reactions. Recent experimental results and future plans are presented.
