Zusammenfassung

In den vergangenen Jahren hat sich im Methodenspektrum der Inguinalhernienreparation ein Wandel vollzogen. Zahlen der Qualitätssicherung Nordrhein zeigen beispielsweise, dass noch 1993 der Großteil der Inguinalhernien nach Bassini oder Shouldice operiert wurde (Lammers et al. 2001; \(U\) Abb. 13.1). Bereits 1999 hatte sich das Spektrum jedoch deutlich in Richtung der Reparationsverfahren mit Kunststoffnetz (Lichtenstein, TAPP/TEP) verschoben. Hier stellt sich die Frage, inwieweit diese offensichtliche Neuorientierung einer wissenschaftlichen Überprüfung der erzielten Ergebnisse standhält.
