Three-particle systems at low and intermediate energies

Recent experimental investigations of systems consisting of three nucleons or of a pion and two nucleons are commented on. Sensitivities with regard to the nucleon-nucleon and pion-nucleon interactions are discussed. Discrepancies between experimental observables and theoretical predictions do not require the inclusion of explicit three-body forces at the present level of precision.
