Calculation of mechanical energy generation from an envelope model of Arcturus

A mixing length model of the convection zone of Arcturus is used to study the influence of varying physical parameters on the turbulent sound generation mechanism. It is found that the chemical composition determines the structure of the convection zone. The periods and wavelengths of the generated waves are much larger than for the sun.
