Signatures of density-dependent forces in intermediate energy proton scattering

Abstract

The application of density-dependent forces to the description of elastic and inelastic proton scattering is reviewed. It is shown that medium effects lead to similar corrections to the impulse approximation in elastic scattering as recent relativistic formulations. Excitation of isobaric analogues states and isoscalar spin-flip states is predicted to be affected by medium effects. The experimental evidence for this is discussed.
