Abstract

Recent work on high density condensations in regions of nearby star formation is summarized. Special attention is given to the molecular line sources in p Oph B, B335, L1551, and TMC1. It is concluded that the evidence for interaction of the outflows in B335 and 1,1551 with their immediate surroundings is marginal. There is in both 1,1551 and TMCI evidence for small scale molecular abundance variations suggesting that time dependent processes are controlling the chemistry. In TMC1, the cyanoacetylene J=2→1 lines appear to be optically thick implying that current models for the density distribution in the source require revision.
