Large eddy simulation of a turbulent wall-bounded shear layer with longitudinal curvature

The statistically steady and two-dimensional turbulent flow over a longitudinally curved convex wall for an incompressible Newtonian fluid is investigated using the large eddy simulation method based on Schumann's volume balance procedure. Preliminary results are presented for a 32x32x64 grid. The comparison with experimental data of Gillis et al. shows fairly good agreement. The global effect of downstream dampening of turbulence due to convex curvature is worked out.
