Ultrasonic anomaly near zero-gap state in CdxHgl1−xSe

Ultrasonic attenuation and sound velocity of CdxHg1−xSe are measured in the MHz range at room temperature. It is considered that the attenuation is affected by the effect of band structures in addition to the presence of the Akhieser loss. Anomaly in the relation between elastic constants and ionicity near the semimetal-semiconductor transition point is explained well by taking account of the band structure in this material.
