Abstract

We make a classification of the structures of superoctet ANB10t-N materials based on pseudopotential orbital radii. For the cubic and rhombohedral IV–VI compounds, we then develop a pseudopotential model for the bandstructure, which allows a unified quantitative description of the optical properties (the transverse effective charge ZT* and the dielectric constant) and the structural properties — in particular the cubic to rhombohedral phase transition.
