Synthesis, characterization and morphology of poly(butadiene-g-styrene)

Abstract

This paper concerns the synthesis of poly(butadiene-g-styrene) by cationic grafting of polystyrene cations onto polybutadiene using alkyl halide /alkylaluminum initiating systems and an investigation into the effect of reaction conditions on grafting and mechanism studies with model reactions. Graft characterization by selective oxidative backbone destruction followed by surviving polystyrene branch analysis and morphology studies are also described.
