Abstract

Amyloidosis is a group of disorders with common histopathologic findings in which there is extracellular tissue deposition of fibrils composed of a variety of proteins. Clinical manifestations depend upon the type of precursor protein, the amount of amyloid deposition, and the tissue affected such as ocular structures, larynx, and tracheobronchial tree. Treatment may include targeted therapies, chemotherapy, surgery, and organ transplant.
