Abstract
Pilonidal disease is a common condition affecting young, hirsute males. It is classically described in the region of the natal cleft; however, extra-sacrococcygeal pilonidal disease has also been described. The pathophysiology has not been completely elucidated and requires further research. The treatment is primarily surgical.
