Abstract
To support call locality in IMT-2000 networks, we locate the cache in Local Signaling Transfer Point (LSTP) level. The hosts Registration Area (RA) crossings within the LSTP area do not generate the Home Location Register (HLR) traffic. The RAs in LSTP area are grouped statically, which removes the signaling overhead and mitigates the Regional STP (RSTP) bottleneck in dynamic grouping. Grouping RAs statically, we lessen the Inconsistency Ratio (IR). The idea behind LSTP level caching is to decrease the IR with static RA grouping. The proposed scheme solves the HLR bottleneck problem and reduces to the mobile traffic cost.
