Abstract

An integrated solution to guarantee real-time requirements in embedded real-time monitor and control systems is presented in this paper. First a typical task model is abstracted from such a control system, together with specific characteristics of the tasks. These system characteristics lead to a hybrid scheduling policy of the rate monotonic algorithm and the sporadic server algorithm. The feasibility and rationality of such a policy are also analyzed. The rate monotonic algorithm is extended in this paper, providing a schedulability test that incorporates factors such as context switching overhead and task synchronization.
