Abstract

Although most many-body systems are beyond the technical possibilities of the mathematical calculus of mechanics, we are able to calculate the properties of large systems by applying methods belonging to the statistical physics. In order to do this, we should have a general concept describing complex systems at microscopic scales. This description should fulfill two conditions. On the one hand, the approach should consider the apparent unpredictability of the chaotic motion of many-body systems, and on the other hand, it should be a starting point for establishing relations between various relevant quantities at the macroscopic level.
