6.11 Summary
Java3D is a comprehensive high-level 3D graphics API. In this chapter, we only covered the basic concept and some examples. Many important components in Java3D are not discussed here, such as advanced objects, rendering effects, and interaction. Our purpose is to build a scene graph structure concept in your knowledge, and demonstrate what a high-level graphics programming tool can bring. From here, you can build a hierachical virtual universe and expand into many virtual environment related applications.
There are some other similar tools that exist as well, such as WorldToolKit and Vega. In the next chapter, we explain many graphics related tools and their applications, which are built on the basic graphics principle and programming we have covered so far.
