Abstract
This chapter gives a short overview of Best Practice on the area of virtual organizations based on the example of four working industrial companies who have managed the transformation into a collaborative network approach to doing business. As a second step we identify promising business fields, which are supposed to profit from similar transformation. As a third and final step we try to identify drivers and barriers for the adoption of the virtual organization concept.
